Wedding Venues and the Outdoors

UK Outdoor wedding venues for the romantic
Nature offers the most romantic settings of all. Nothing beats that.  Whether a spring flower sprinkled meadow, green lush forests or even a man made Botanical garden, nature paints its own wonderful setting to your special event.

For each season of the year nature adds it’s own special theme and atmosphere. Even winter offers you the chance to create a fairyland with garlands of lights strung through bare trees. Each season will offer you fresh opportunities to create your very own theme.

Some pros
Space will be freely available. A public garden such as a park or Bontanic garden will have as much space as you need.   It will have ample space for a huge marque, might already offer a good sized barn, or if brave you could even pull up a bit of that flowering meadow or fun hill top.

Decorating ideas will not be in short supply. Just add to what nature is already offering. Adapt your bridal entourage and venue decor to what nature is already providing. Autumn weddings lend themselves to warm browns and earthen colours while summer charms with yellows, reds and blues. And never forget those charming spring pastels.

Above all else, your outdoor wedding can lend itself to an informal celebration which will allow you to keep a tight reign on your budget.

Cons to keep in mind
The weather is always an issue. Of course a summer wedding in Spain is unlikely to get spoilt by rain. But you might die of heat. A wedding in a tropical environment will always have the threat of rain and Northern Europe will rain whenever it feels like it. Protect against this eventuality by having a tent or barn available should the need arise.

You might also need to bring in the mod cons if your venue is too rustic. From portable toilets to kitchen equipment all might need to be shipped in. It’s certainly not necessarily a cheaper option.

One other point to keep in mind is that you will in all likelihood not have event management staff to assist you. This means you have to do everything from finding vendors to making sure they actually deliver on the day.

Permissions might be difficult to obtain for public spaces and in some countries such as the UK you will not be able to have the legal part of your ceremony performed outside a registered venue. An additional trip to a registry office will need to be undertaken.

Outdoor wedding venues can be glorious
Overall, if you can cope with the few disadvantages, an outdoor wedding in the UK will offer you an opportunity for a relaxed, casual celebration with a charm all of its own. Flowers, beer tankards, rustic bread and farm style spreads can offer a truly wonderful occasion for all participants.

What will Your Bridesmaids Wear?

Even though your bridesmaids are not the main act so to speak, they are actually far more important than one would immediately realise. What the bride chooses for her bridesmaids to wear is often the theme for the event. After all your bridesmaids are the first people your guests will see at the ceremony and through this first glimpse they will determine the tone.

Of course more recently brides have started to move away from the traditional white or cream to more courageous colours in their dresses such as red or even black. But mostly your bride will appear in the more established tone of white and shades thereof.

It is the bridesmaids who will create the additional splash of colour and who will create the the look for the bridal bridal party.

Traditionally, mono coloured gowns in co-ordinated or matching shades have been the choice made by most brides. For something different though chiffon prints can be enchanting to the eye and create a mood of delight and romance. It is a fresh look that plays music with the flowers used in the wedding and adds an absolutely feminine tone.

Within this idea you can still mix and match. You may dress only the maid of honour in chiffon print and pick up the colours in the other bridesmaids’ outfit. Each dress could pick up a key shade in the maid of honour’s dress or all of the entourage could wear the same print chiffon.

Add to this the colours being picked up again in the bride’s bouquet and an entire theme can be created. In particular for spring weddings this fresh look can be beautiful. But even for an autumn wedding the chiffon print can be darkened to suit the more autumny shades of the landscape.

Either way your bridesmaids can set the scene for the mood and feel of the look and feel and create a colour that sets the mood of your party and may be followed through into the theme from your wedding invites to your wedding venue theme and  which you decorate your wedding invites and your entire wedding venue.

Your wedding plan
Planning your wedding is one of the most exciting times of your life. There is so much to do that you could quite easily become overwhelmed. The best way to overcome this is to have a solid wedding plan that guides you through all the stops and ensures that you leave nothing unattended to.

Once you have your overall wedding plan compiled you need to find a starting point. And probably the most important one would be deciding on your perfect wedding venue amongst the many wedding venues available. This component of your wedding will determine many things not least the wedding date.

It’s not understated at all if you are told that deciding on your wedding venue is the most important step in your wedding plan. The right wedding venue will make your wedding perfect. The wrong one can lead to your special event being a nightmare. We all know which one you would prefer.

Here are a few reasons why the correct choice amongst the huge selection of wedding venues is so important.

The budget
Of course the budget determines everything. If you have unlimited resources then you really have nothing to worry about. The sky’s the limit. However, there are only 5% of the brides out there that like Katie Holmes can get married in an Italian castle, or like Kate Middleton have her do at Buckingham Palace.

The rest of us have to cautiously look at the available money and make sure it gets us the best place at the most value for our money. And as it tends to chew up between 50% to 75% of the budget, the wedding venue is an important buying decision to make.

Remember that what does not need to get spent on the venue can be spent on the outfits, flowers, pre-reception events, honeymoon and so much more. As you choose your venue always consider whether the money you are spending will be worth it or whether that could have been spent more wisely somewhere else.

The purpose
You might think that the purpose of your wedding venue is obvious. It’s to make sure you have a place to have a celebration. But there are more questions to ask than that. Do you need your venue to also hold the legal ceremony. Does your venue need to be able to offer you a late night party. Do you see your venue requiring overnight accommodation for your guests from far away.

Will your venue have sufficient parking. Is there transport available. Is there space for your ailing grandmother to have a restful nap, do you maid of honours children need entertainment in their own space. And the list goes on.

Make sure your wedding venue is able to offer you the space and purpose that you need. It’s important not to have problems that pop up on the day when all you and your wedding party would like to do is to have a great time celebrating your wedding.

The availability
You have made your decision. The venue is everything you wish for and has all your requirements ticked off. Now you need to find out whether it can host your celebration on the day you would find convenient.

Of course your venue would probably be available in three years time on the date you wish to book it for. But perhaps you don’t want to wait so long. Or you don’t want to get married in winter as you would prefer a date in a milder climate. Your sister/brother are already getting married then, or are away, or some other event means that very important people have limited time available. All of these need to be taken into consideration and then you hope that the venue you love will have an open day for you.

The contract
Get everything in writing. In general your quotation will provide you with a lot of information already. But do not hesitate to get in writing other items that you presume you will be getting. Anything from free parking and toilet rolls needs to be stated. You don’t want to end up with an additional big fee.

Also find out what your escalation fees will be if you are planning your event in two year’s time. Is it costing you more every year. And in addition find out what cancellation fee will be levied if, for some reason, your wedding needs to be cancelled or postponed. What is your deposit and will you forfeit this if you cancel.

Find out when the balance of your money is payable and have this in writing too. Make sure your contract states the times of your event as well as your dates. It must show the details of the kitchen facilities, other rooms available for your use as well as serving staff and bar details. Is the music included, and what about the music equipment. And who will clean and break down the decorations.

Your perfect wedding venue
Of course there is no such thing. You will always need to make some concessions. Just make sure you are prepared to live with the ones you are making and that you will not end up regretting them. By careful search and selection, timely negotiations and the legal paperwork to secure what you have negotiated you will find your wedding venue amongst the myriad of wedding venues on the market that will serve you well and provide you with a space to celebrate your wedding.
